Cate Blanchett’s Ukrainian-Russian accent is hilarious!

Hilarious in part because it is both accurate and a caricature. I’m not sure I like it at all. Here is the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer:

    I just hope she offers Indiana Jones a glass of cold Wodka!

    …and then she’d break the bottle over his melon. I like how she strikes the perfect balance between dumpy communist and femme fatale!

    I think the casting of this film is a disaster. How can you have the final film of Indiana Jones without John Rhys-Davies or Sean Connery. The only good decision in the casting department was bringing Karen Allen back. At the very least John should have been included, he has appeared in two of the three films and is an inseparable part the of the Indiana Jones legacy. And why must Hollywood insist on ridiculous stereotypes of the badass female bad guy who uses obsolete weapons, Kate Blanchett is a great actress, but the character is weak.

    I agree that Rhys-Davies should have been brought back, although I think Indy’s dad would have been too decrepit to have any more adventures… Heh.

    Yeah, the sword is a bit much. And I can’t imagine it’s historically accurate, especially for the Soviets. But we shall see… It’s entirely possible that the sword is only decorative for most of the film. After all, she does use a freakin’ truck as a weapon! Haha! >:}
