BBT, say it isn’t so!

The Bloomfield Bridge Tavern (BBT) painted over their charming, tacky “Welcome to Bloomfield” sign today. Prominently displayed on the side of their establishment, it welcomed visitors commuting down the Bloomfield Bridge and up Liberty Ave. The side of the building is now white, with large black and red letters that say “Bloomfield Bridge Tavern”. (At least they haven’t removed the portraits of famous polacks.)

It’s strange that I feel the loss so keenly. I wonder if the owners realize what a drastic change they’re making to the neighborhood’s visual landscape. (Although they do have every right to…) Eh bien voilà, the times they are a changin’.
