Pittsburgh is fucking BORING and RACIST AND IN DENIAL.
But on that tip, one can say that about most of America.

Then also:
“Pittsburgh is a great city to live in if you’ve money, if you’re white, and if you’re willing to wink at a whole boatload of problems (social, economic, and so on) that a city this size just shouldn’t have. I don’t think tourism or gentrification is going to solve these problems.”

totally agree!

Most livable? for who?
Sorry to say, Pittsburgh has not been great for years.

I almost feel ashamed for pulling the tank card right after the budget card. It makes me feel powerful and dirty, especially in this kind of context. (My quiver of dour Pittsburgh facts is just loaded with this kind of stuff.)

Yeah, I need to stop talking smack on Mysteries and read it again, if only to drudge up some real reasons for disliking it.

Epiphany! I think I just don’t like most representations of Pittsburgh, be they fictional or not. Something to watch out for…

anyone that considers the brillobox a sign of cultural living probably needs to be shot in the face, huh? “no no, it’s different from hemingway’s - the beer costs WAY more, see?”

but yeah, any of these “zomg pixburgh is teh shit!!!!!!” articles universally call for some pretty severe eye-rolling. say what you will about mysteries of pittsburgh, but isn’t it telling that this wonderful cultural oasis has produced one artist of note in the past twenty years (and no, girl talk doesn’t count as an artist of note)?

also, good detail on the tanks. sorry i’m not there to see such a thing!
